We are a team of researchers from the Counseling Psychology program at The University of Memphis who are studying the cultural meaning of masculinity and how male roles are related to relationships. For the first part of our research, we asked men in the country of Turkey to respond to the instruments (translated into Turkish). The second part of the study will ask the same questions of men in the United States. We hope to be able to answer questions regarding both the similarities and dissimilarities in how masculinity is viewed across culture and race. The study has been reviewed and approved by the Institutional Research Review Board. We are asking for your help with this project. So far we have collected data from about 150 men, however, we would like responses from many more men in order to ensure that our findings will be meaningful.
We are very excited about this project and have received positive feedback on the preliminary data that we have presented at our professional conferences.
It should take between 25 and 35 minutes to complete the questionnaire (depends on speed of reading and internet connection). There is no identifying information on the survey so all responses are anonymous.
